Earlier in the night, the Georgia-based quintet delivered 10 songs during an hour-long set that reminded anyone in the audience who might have forgotten exactly why Collective Soul had numerous multi-platinum singles during the 1990s. Lead singer Ed Roland was in fine voice and high spirits, stopping to take selfies with fans at the front of the stage before songs and chatting up the audience. “I like you people! Deee-troit! Deee-troit! We’re all friends and family, right?” he asked before explaining that the band’s 10th studio album would be released during the spring and they wanted to play a song live to test the waters. After claiming they might not even know it, Roland said, “(Expletive), you’re gonna love it!”
